Step 1: Remember to clean your oven or barbecue grill regularly

Regularly check the state of fouling on the grill of your oven or barbecue.

The real problem of the oven rack is precisely to stay in the oven. Once well stashed, we quickly forget that it must be degreased. A piece of advice: take out the oven rack at least once a month to see the damage.

For the barbecue, same thing: we clean it regularly, so as not to leave it dirty when summer is over. This will avoid having to scrub it thoroughly the following year.

Step 2: Find a suitable container to wash your grill

Recycle an old plastic bin!

This is the kind of inconvenience that prevents us from finishing our cleaning work. The bucket is too deep and there is no way to get it in its oven or barbecue grill. Same problem with the sink.

Yes oven or barbecue grills are also not very often cleaned, it is above all because one does not have at home the adapted type of container.

This is the second practical advice: plan one or more tanks for cleaning so you will not be cut in your momentum of cleanliness. You can also fall back on plastic storage boxes that will do the trick and that cost only a few euros.

Step 3: Add a liter of boiling water

Heat the water directly in a kettle. Pour the hot water into a suitable container.

The liter of water specified corresponds to the dose given in our article for soda ash. You can obviously add more but you have to adapt the number of spoons of soda. One liter of water = 3 tablespoons of soda.

Step 4: Dilute 3 tablespoons of soda in boiling water

Then add 3 tablespoons of soda crystals. Please mix well so that the crystals dilute.

You can also add a spoon of black soap if you want a cleaning action in addition to the degreasing action.

For effective cleaning, leave on for a few minutes to one night, depending on grid fouling status

Step 5: Brush your grill with a soft brush

After a few minutes, you will see tiny black particles float in water. The soda crystals do their job well!

To help them with their task, you can use a soft brush to scrub the last remaining particles. You can for example opt for a dish brush, bought in drugstores. The real satisfaction of this type of action is to see the fat go away without using elbow grease.

Before: a dirty barbecue grill

Traces of fat, burnt matter… Barbecue grills as the oven racks are quickly dirty. The dirt becomes more or less thick on the grid, by dint of being used and cooked regularly.

After: a grill like new, ready to use

Soda crystals are a powerful disinfectant and degreaser. They can be used for different tasks in the house, for dishes, laundry and even DIY. Although harmless for the environment (they are considered as ecological cleaners), they must however be handled with care because irritating for the skin. It is therefore recommended to use them with gloves.
